Uchiwa うちわ (pronounced: Ujiwa) means leaf-shaped fan or leaf fan and literally translates to "repelling mosquitoes with a leaf fan". In the hot Japanese summers, uchiwa fans are essential to quickly and easily fan yourself with some refreshing air.
