“Beach Bucket”
Description
The Beach Bucket pattern includes both photo tutorials and links to video demonstrations of the techniques used in this hat.
Its Summer now so why not knit a funky hat and take a piece of the fun into Winter with this colourful bucket hat! Knit it in bright Summer colours to keep the vibe all year long. Or make it a classic bucket with a black or grey background and vibrant band.
This bucket style hat features a dip stitch hat band and contrasting bands and folds to add dimension to the hat and help the knit keep its shape.
The hat starts with a provisional cast-on and then moves to knit the bucket and crown. The Brim is picked up from the base of the band and is shaped with changing needle sizes and increases and decreases. The brim is finished with an I-cord cast-off.
The dip stitch pattern is made in two parts (passes), one at the top of the band in the body of the bucket and the other at the base of the band working towards the bucket.
Materials: 3.75mm US #5 and 4.5mm US #7, 40cm 16 inch circs plus 4.5mm dpns for crown. Approx 60m striping or variegated aran weight yarn for the detail sections, turquoise sample used Noro Silk Garden and approx. 130m aran weight solid colour yarn, sample used Noro Kashirukuru. 5.0mm hook and waste yarn for a provisional cast-on, 8 markers and the regular notions.
Gauge: 18 sts in 4inches worked in stockinette in the round
Size: 2 sizes, small/medium and medium/large shown in medium/large
