'Silk and Saltwater' by Mary Annarella

Light, fashion-forward, and perfect for the beach, this pullover is all about texture at a eased gauge.

Worked in one piece from the shoulders-down and almost entirely in the round, the 2x2 ribbing on the back and sleeves contrasts with double garter st on the front. The set-in sleeves are created seamlessly with the upper bodice in a technique originally described by Barbara Walker (photo tutorial included).

The double garter stitch on the front of the bodice jogs around to the back just below the waist to create a motif for a bit of a party-in-the-back feel.

A word or two about yarn choice: The silk content of the Silky Wool yarn allows the 2x2 ribbing and double-garter stitch patterns to open up and lie nearly-flat with blocking. Yarn substitutes should be blends with fibers without much “memory” (such as alpaca, bamboo, silk, linen, yak). Alternatively, a 100% wool yarn that is sportweight (rather than a true DK) is a possible option, but as usual, be sure to swatch to check your gauge and fabric.

Silk and Saltwater is meant to be worn with anywhere from an inch of negative ease to ~2” of positive ease. For this design, I recommend you make the size that mostly closely matches your bust measurement.
