“'Can't Beat That Hat' by Alexandra Parks”
Description
This hat is full of clever details! The snappy, two-color cast on brings the contrast color all the way to the border so it reads as part of the hat throughout, the earflaps are knit in as you go with fancy shaping, and the back of the hat is lowered with short rows to protect the back of your neck. The intricate mosaic design is fun to work and much simpler than it appears!

Equally great on guys and gals, this hat is the one you’ll be reaching for all winter long. As written, it should fit a 21”-24” head.

From two skeins of Kathmanu Aran 100 you should be able to get three hats - two with MC and CC the same, one with the colors switched.

NEEDLES AND STITCHING:
This hat was worked on 40" circular size US 8/5.0mm needles using the Magic Loop method. Any method of working in the round could be used. Gauge is 17 sts x 26 rows = 4" x 4" over stockinette. The main body of the hat is worked in mosaic colorwork, but since many knitters find it difficult to accurately count rows of mosaic, I felt that measuring over stockinette would be preferable.

FINISHED DIMENSIONS:
Unstretched hat circumference - approximately 20" Height from center front - approximately 8.5" Height from center back - approximately 10" Depth of earflaps - approximately 2.5"
