Wine Bottle Decorations

A nice bottle of wine is a great gift to both give and receive.

But those paper gift bags cost money you can spend on yarn or a pattern instead. They seem a little wasteful, too, unless you save them for future use.

That’s why you need to knit mini mittens and hats!

They are what all the well dressed wine bottles will be wearing this season.

Wine mitts trio wmEach set took me a little over a hour to knit. We were watching TV, I wasn’t really paying attention.

You can tie them to a wine bottle, or make the cord longer and wrap them around a present. Or go really wild and make a bunting! They will also make adorable ornaments for a Christmas tree.

Red wine mitts wmThe dark green pair and the red pair with green cuff were knit using Ella Rae Lace Merino yarn. This fingering weight, 100% Superwash Merino wool yarn is available in a wide range of colors.

Silky wool wine mitts wmThe lime green with purple cuff pair was knit using Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool yarn. This wool/silk/nylon blend is also available in many beautiful colors and makes a slightly bigger mitten.
