Superstar 2 1/2 Hour Cowl

The other day I was using my skein of Queensland Collection Superstar yarn as a photo prop. I thought to myself, “This is pretty yarn. I should knit it already.”

QC SuperstarCan you see all the lovely textures in that picture? Superstar is a bulky, 63% Polyester, 15% Acrylic, 11% Wool, 11% Nylon blend. There are both metallic threads and sequins to give it some sparkle.

superstar ballThe chainette construction gives this yarn bulk without weight. The construction also traps air to help keep you warm.

A fun cowl seemed the way to go.

Add the Superstar 2 1/2 Hour Cowl to your Ravelry queue.

cowl 1As you can see, it’s just the right size for keeping the breeze out of your collar. You don’t have to worry about arranging it, you can just pop it on and go.

(I’m wearing my Monika Hat from Elsebeth Lavold’s “The Small Things Matter Collection“. I used Silky Wool XL for the hat. I think the dog leashes add a nice pop of color, too.)

It also seems to work as a head band/ear warmer, if you’re into that, but I couldn’t get a good picture of it worn that way.

I did, however, manage to get Samson to model it for me!

  1. Cowls are fun to make. The sequins are a nice touch. Nice photo of your handmade hat and cowl. Then I scrolled down and saw your model – too cute. Happy New Year!
