Spotlight: Juniper Moon Farm Zooey

The new Juniper Moon Farm yarn Zooey has cracked the Top Ten list of Popular New Yarns on Ravelry and is heading for the Top Five!

Pop zooeyI always get a thrill when I see one of our yarns on this list since there are so many yarns people can use.

Actually, we have two yarns on this list, since Noro Kibou is under our umbrella as well!

But today I’m talking about Zooey.

Zooey Yarn Hero-1Zooey is a 60% Cotton, 40% Linen blend with a suggested gauge of 5 to 6 stitches per inch on a US 3 to 6 needle.  That’s a pretty good range!

Each 100 gram ball has a generous 284 yards. You have to love the massive yardage on Juniper Moon Farm yarns!

Zooey is available in 10 mellow, natural feeling colors.

I like how the yarn is both soft and crisp at the same time, due to the different fibers. It also has lovely texture, which translates to your project, giving interest to even simple fabric.

Zooey is launching with eight patterns designed by Mari Chiba. You can find the patterns as individual leaflets at your local yarn store.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Sommer_back_medium2I like the textured design of the Sommer  Sleevless top. It looks like the pattern with be easy to “read” as it develops, for cruise control knitting. This will be a great top when the warm weather arrives.

The XS size uses just 2 balls of Zooey!

163357The El Seyf Multi-Wrap Cardigan is an intriguing design. As you can see from the thumbnail photos, there are many different ways to wear this garment.

Who doesn’t like a little variety in their wardrobe?

The clean lines of the cardigan allow the unique properties of Zooey to shine!

163355Finally, for a small, satisfying project, check out the Yaz capelet/cowl.

This would look great with a sun dress. There is shaping, which is achieved by changing needle sizes.

It is also a 2 ball project!

You can preview the rest of the Zooey projects on our main website, or on the Juniper Moon Farm blog, where you can also learn more about the designer.

Use our Store Locator feature to find a local yarn store near you that carries Juniper Moon Farm so you can see Zooey in person.

What would you make with Zooey?
