Sneak Peek: Noro Tennen–Colors!

“Sneak Peek” probably doesn’t apply in this case because these new colors of Tennen yarn are already arriving in yarn shops. But I’m on a roll with the sneak peek blog titles, so why change now?

Noro Tennen yarn was introduced last year with eight beautiful, neutral/natural colors. Lovely shades of grays and tans. This season Mr. Noro has added colors, and they are fabulous!

These eight new colors bring the total to 16. This light pink color in the front (39-Flamingo) seems to be a favorite so far when I’ve posted about them on social media. I, of course, like the deep red one (37-Merlot).

And let’s not overlook these pretty shades of blue!

Tennen is a worsted weight yarn that is a 50% Wool, 25% Silk, and 25% Alpaca blend. You can see it has the wonderful rustic texture for which Noro is famous. It is a little crunchy and a little soft. It probably qualifies as a “hearty” yarn.

This swatch of knit fabric is in the Tennen color card. Isn’t it a lovely mix of colors and textures?

When Tennen launched last year Jenny Watson designed 12 patterns for it. There is not reason you can’t revisit them with the new colors. Can you imagine the beautiful “Beech” cardigan, shown above, in the new Flamingo shade?

Since I have one of each color anything I make is going to have to look good striped. I think I’m going to take a swing at the “Crochet Jacket” by Jenny King from Noro Knitting Magazine.

It’s just a matter of deciding on the order in which I should use the Tennen colors!
