No “sneak peek” here because Cassowary is already arriving in yarn shops for your knitting and crocheting pleasure!
This new yarn from Queensland Collection brand is a fingering weight 70% Wool, 30% Nylon blend. Cassowary will be a great option for socks and lightweight garments.
Cassowary is available in 10 colors. I have a ball of 04-Red Oxide. As you can guess by looking at my ball of yarn, Cassowary will have a shaded, striping effect when knit up.
Isn’t it beautiful?
Jo Allport has designed three projects for Cassowary to help get your creative juices flowing.
The “Lara Socks” use one ball of Cassowary yarn. These cuff-down socks feature a heel flap and gusset and have a pretty cable on the cuff.
The “Elda Cowl” is also knit using just one ball of Cassowary. The simple lace pattern really shows off the striping effect of the yarn.
The “Sally Wrap” is knit using three balls of Cassowary so you can wrap yourself in warmth! This interesting shawl starts wide and gradually narrows toward the cast off edge.
Which one would you knit first? I finished the socks I was knitting using the new Araucania “Huasco Sock” yarn. I think I might have to cast on for a pair of Cassowary socks this weekend!
Head to your local yarn shop to see Cassowary in person.
