Any mail day that includes a knitting or crocheting magazine is exciting. But Cast On magazine always manages to take me by surprise since it’s a quarterly publication.
The May-July 2014 issue has several patterns for me, and a spotlight on intarsia. Since intarsia is probably my favorite color work technique I was looking forward to a good issue.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered one of the patterns uses Juniper Moon Farm Herriot yarn!
Up and Around Vest by Charles D Gandy. Juniper Moon Farm Herriot yarn 4 (4, 4, 5, 6) skeins color #7-Eucalyptus.
Herriot is a wonderful 100% Baby Alpaca yarn that comes in generous 219 yard (100 gram) hanks. It was introduced with 10 natural (undyed) colors and now includes 10 heathered (dyed) colors.
Considering I’m copied on all yarn support email requests from various magazines, it’s a little silly for me to be surprised. In my defense, those requests usually arrive months and months in advance of the magazine publication. Just think how long it take you to knit a sweater!
The vest is sized for S (M, L, 1x, 2x). Since it’s Cast On, there are great tips to help you work through the pattern.
This issue also includes to very cute pillows knit using Araucania Huasco yarn.
